| | | Be Original Americas Launches Virtual Fellowship
|
| Be Original Americas, a nonprofit advocacy organization, aims to raise awareness of knockoffs and their negative impact on the design industry by starting conversations about the value of preserving original design. Each year, the organization hosts an annual summer fellowship in which two undergraduate design students embark on an immersive five-week journey to visit a multitude of member brands—invaluable exposure for rising design talents.
Thanks to the coronavirus and the ongoing quarantine, however, this year’s fellowship will unfold in a slightly different way. From June 15 to July 17, more than 25 member companies of Be Original Americas will present a series of webinars to a global audience of design students. Each session will provide exclusive insights and access to their factories, architecture, and design studios, ranging from Georg Jensen’s silversmiths to Herman Miller’s meticulous archives. Currently enrolled design students are welcome to attend.
